Before setting up your email you must first
have a PPP account with waverly.net or dickson.net. Click here to see how
to configure your account.
Double click on the "Outlook Express" icon on your desktop. If no account exist the "Internet Accounts Wizard" will start. If an account does exist Outlook Express will open and look similar to the image below.
To create or edit an account click on "Tools" and then click on "Accounts". This will open the "Internet Accounts" window has shown below. Make sure you click on the mail tab to see your email accounts if any.
To add an email account click on the "Add" button and then on "Mail". This will start the "Internet Connection Wizard". The wizard will walk you through setting up the new account. You should see a window similar to the one below.
Once you have entered you display name click "next" to move to the next step.
The example above shows waverly.net has the domain. Your domain may differ. Another example would be "username@centerville.net" or "username@dickson.net." If you do not know your domain contact your ISP. Once you have entered your email address correctly click "next" to move on to the next step shown below.
Again, the example above shows "waverly.net" as the domain yours may be different. Another example would be "mail.centerville.net". Click on "next" when you have correctly entered the mail servers.
Your account name is the same as your username with out the "@waverly.net". The username and password will be the same as you use to log onto the Internet with unless you have more than one email account. Your password will show up as an asteric for security reasons. Do not give your password to anyone. If you do not want to type your password each time you check your mail, put a check in the box that says "Remember password" Click "next" to move to the next step shown below.
Now click finish. That's it. You may need to close the accounts window at this point. You can test your mail by sending yourself a message the next time you check your mail the test message should come back to you. You can edit your settings at anytime by clicking on "tools" and then "Accounts" select the mail account and click on "Properties" you will see the "Mail Properties" window shown below. By clicking on the appropriate tab you can modify all the information described above.
You can also customize you email setting by opening Outlook Express
and clicking on "tools" and then on "options". This will bring up the "Options
window shown below. Make sure you understand the change before changing
the default selections.
